First Library Card

I remember getting my first library card and having to sign my name on it. I loved the book checkout at the public library back in the 1970s.  There was a machine that took a picture of the book title and your library card at the same time. It had a distinct sound when the librarian pressed the button to take the picture.

Maurice Sendak

"There should be a place where only the things you want to happen, happen."
-Maurice Sendak

Sendak was born on this day in 1928.

The Raven

I love The Raven by Poe. I try to read it every other year or so around Halloween. Being from Minnesota I find the above cartoon amusing.

12-12-12 Christmas Wishes

I actually read Christmas Wishes by Tim Hollis last year. I identified with it because the author and I basically lived through the same era as kids. Lots of fun memorabilia here. I had a LOT of fun reading this...

Bossypants

Bossypants by Tina Fey was a fun read. Even when she's not being gut-bustingly funny her good natured personality makes her a delight to read. My favorite quote?

"Do your thing and don't care if they like it."

Love it.
